Indmath

Industrial Mathematics  – “Indmath” – is a research institute of the Johannes Kepler University (JKU) Linz. The institute performs basic research in the areas of inverse problems and regularization theory, medical imaging, signal processing, and in the development of mathematical methods for adaptive optics and astronomy. A main focus of the work of Indmath consists in the development of methods and algorithms for industrial applications. The head of the institute, Prof. Dr. Ronny Ramlau, is also scientific director of the Johann Radon Institute for Computational and Applied Mathematics (RICAM) of the Austrian Academy of Sciences, and of RICAM’s Transfer Group. Together with the company MathConsult, the partners form the Linz industrial mathematics cluster and develop methods for further application fields, such as: Iron and steel, automotive industry, astronomy, electrical and magnetic engineering, plastics industry and banking, asset management and insurance.
